The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) is an English test for not an English speaker, and it is widely accepted by all the great education institutions around the world. IELTS is jointly owned and managed by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment.

IELTS Test Formats

There are two modules to choose from – Academic and General Training.
The Academic Training module is for the students wishing to study in certificates, diplomas, undergraduate, postgraduate or Ph.D. levels. It is also for seeking professional registration such doctor or nursing professionals.
The General Training module is for non-English speaker migrate applicants wishing to migrate to an English-speaking country such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, and also for those who wishing to train or study at lower than degree level.

IELTS Four Test Components

Both training modules cover four test components – listening, speaking, writing and reading. Each applicant takes the same Listening and Speaking tests. Reading and Writing components are different in Academic and General training modules.

IELTS Test Levels

In IELTS, there is no such thing as a pass or fail but it is designed to assess English language skills at all levels.

IELTS results are reported as band scores on a scale from 1 (the lowest) to 9 (the highest).
